Preparations for Eurovision 2026 in Vienna have been marked by the unexpected triumph of deep historical symbolism over the usual pop glitter. The Croatian band Lelek, which achieved a confident victory in the national selection “Dora 2026,” presented a project that goes far beyond the music contest. Their composition “Andromeda” is not just a modern ethno-pop song, but a powerful visual and semantic manifesto, reviving the unique tradition of tattoos of Croatian Catholic women, known as “Sicanje” (sitsanye). The collective’s stage image became a true exploration of national identity, captured in ink on skin.
