The legendary band Metallica has once again proven that their influence extends far beyond concert stadiums, penetrating academic circles and inspiring bold actions. The story of Barry Flowe, director of the Screamin’ Eagles marching band from Bridgewater College, Virginia, went viral after he immortalized his students’ success on his own skin. After the ensemble took an honorable second place in the national marching band competition “For Whom The Band Tolls,” organized by the metallers themselves, Flowe kept his promise and got a large tattoo, which became a symbol of devotion to music and his students.
