The history of the fashion house Berluti began not in the glittering shop windows of Paris, but on the picturesque Adriatic coast, in the small Italian port of Senigallia. It was there in 1865 that Alessandro Berluti was born – a man whose passion for woodworking and shoemaking laid the foundation for one of the most prestigious brands in men’s fashion. However, the real breakthrough came later, when in 1929, the founder’s son, Torello Berluti, opened the first boutique in Paris, near Place Vendôme. At the time, the Chicago Daily Tribune called this establishment a “modest little shop,” but it was there that a legend was born – the Alessandro oxfords, crafted from a single piece of leather. This model with three eyelets for laces became the standard of understated elegance, winning the hearts of style icons such as the director of the French “New Wave,” François Truffaut.
